Attorney Laura Allison Ramos — 14 Years Serving Texas Families and Immigrants
I am an immigration and criminal defense attorney based in Corpus Christi, Texas, and I have spent 14 years in these courts learning exactly how they work — and who they work against when you do not have the right representation.
My practice covers immigration law, criminal defense, family law, personal injury, estate planning, and real estate closings. What connects all of it is the same thing that brought me to this work in the first place: the belief that people deserve a lawyer who will be straight with them, fight for them, and still be their neighbor when the case is over.

Education, Credentials, and Court Admissions
I earned my law degree and built my practice with a focus on the courts and communities I serve in South Texas. I am licensed to practice law in the State of Texas and admitted to the United States District Court for the Southern District of Texas — the federal court that covers Corpus Christi, Houston, Laredo, McAllen, and Brownsville.
I am also a member of the Criminal Justice Panel Act for the Southern District of Texas. That distinction is uncommon among private attorneys practicing in the Corpus Christi area, and it reflects the level of federal criminal defense work I have handled throughout my career.
My credentials include:
-
Licensed, State Bar of Texas
-
Admitted, U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas
-
Criminal Justice Panel Act member, Southern District of Texas
-
14 years in practice
-
Bilingual — English and Spanish
What My Practice Looks Like Today
Immigration law is the heart of my practice, and I handle those cases from anywhere in the country. Whether a family is navigating a green card application, fighting a removal order, or trying to understand what a criminal charge means for their immigration status, I take those calls from Texas to New York and everywhere in between.
On the criminal defense side, I handle both Texas state cases and federal criminal matters — drug charges, firearms cases, white-collar offenses, and more. Federal criminal defense requires a different level of preparation and a specific understanding of how federal prosecutors operate. Most private attorneys in Corpus Christi do not take federal cases. I do.
I also represent clients in family law, personal injury, estate planning, and real estate closings throughout Corpus Christi and across Texas.

Honest Assessments — Even When It Is Not What You Were Hoping to Hear
One of the most common things I hear from new clients is that they are afraid of hiring a lawyer who will just tell them what they want to hear and keep billing them. That fear is legitimate, and it is one I take seriously.
My practice is built on giving real assessments. If an application does not have merit, I will tell you that directly rather than file it and collect a fee. If your case has a path forward, I will tell you what that path looks like and what it requires. If it does not, I will tell you that too — and I will tell you early, so you can make informed decisions about your options.
That approach has cost me clients who wanted a different answer. It has also built a practice that people refer their families to.
Rooted in Corpus Christi
Corpus Christi is not just where I practice. It is where I live, where I raise my family, and where I am involved in the community beyond the office.
I serve on the Pony League board and contribute to charitable causes in the area. A significant portion of my clients are immigrant families and individuals who are navigating some of the most stressful situations of their lives. Serving them well means understanding the community they are part of — and being part of it myself.
